Canwest Tax & Business Consultants was founded in 2001 as a result of seeing many small businesses and farms fall through the cracks of large national farm tax accounting firms. Canwest started with a somewhat humble beginning, with a staff of two. Within 3 months it was necessary to hire a third staff member, and by the end of the first six months of business Canwest was sporting a staff of five. Since that time the firm has never looked back. A few people may say that it's not a very long track record, but rest assured our combined accounting and business experience exceeds 75 years. It's not the years in business that matters, but rather the experience and dedication of the people. I'll bet most of you are glad you did not own shares in Woodwards or Eatons. Those companies were in business for over 100 years before they failed. Today large corporations we all do business with are running multi billion dollar deficits. Canwest Tax & Business Consultants has never written one number in red ink in its history.
Our vision has always been to search out the very best in accounting expertise and as such rent them out to the small businesspeople and farmers. Top professionals have rarely been available to the little guy, especially to those in small towns and rural areas. As Johnny Carson once said in one of his comedy monologues; "Fifty percent of all lawyers, doctors and accountants finished in the bottom half of their class". Let's face it, the very best graduates naturally flock to the big cites where the money is. For example, how many world famous heart surgeons are in Red Earth Creek, Alberta? Maybe a dozen or so and the rest are in Pump Handle, Saskatchewan. I'm kidding of course.
